On February 16, 2026, Minneapolis Police officers were dispatched to a residence located on the 3000 block of Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis, Hennepin County Minnesota on the report of a domestic assault. Officers responded and spoke with a known adult female, Victim herein. Victim [NAME REDACTED] injuries to include a laceration above her eye, an eye that was swollen shut and protruding from the socket, a bloody nose, a cut to her ear, and she was unable to open her jaw. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had been assaulted by her boyfriend, LEIGHTON JOSEPH FOOTE, DEFENDANT herein.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] invited Defendant to spend the night at her apartment, but after an argument, she told Defendant to sleep in the living room and she went to sleep in her bedroom. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was awoken to Defendant repeatedly striking her in the face resulting in the above injuries. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was eventually able to flee her apartment to another unit down the hall where 911 was called. Defendant fled the apartment before officers arrived. Victim was transported to the hospital for medical treatment where she was diagnosed with a fractured nose and received 8 sutures to repair the laceration to her eye.
Defendant has several prior domestic violence related convictions to include: - Felony Domestic Assault convicted 3/1/21 (27CR1926841) - Felony Violation of an OFP convicted 7/27/16 (27CR166334) The State requests that this case issue as a warrant due to the seriousness of the assault. Additionally, Victim [NAME REDACTED] in the relationship has been ongoing and escalating. Defendant presently has an active warrant for a DOC violation.
