On November 21, 2025, at approximately 5:54 A.M., city of Hopkins Police Department officers were dispatched to a report of a domestic assault located on the 460 block of 5th Ave. N., in the city of Hopkins, in Hennepin County, in the state of Minnesota. Officers arrived at said location, where they were met in the parking lot by the reporting party, identified as EA, hereinafter Victim. Victim stated, “he gave me this problem” and pointed to her neck, and officers observed bruise marks around her neck.
Victim stated that a male, later identified as CLAUBERT DUROSIE JEAN, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant, had choked her to the point she could not breathe. Defendant and Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had taken her phone while she was trying to call 911. Defendant then demanded the code to her phone, and he held a knife up to her. Victim used a downward stabbing motion to describe how Defendant held the knife. Defendant told Victim that if he gets arrested, she would be in big trouble.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] was going to work but then flagged down a third party to call 911. Victim stated that she feared for her life and thought Defendant would kill her, and she reiterated this to an officer during a follow-up interview later that day. The officer also later located the knife allegedly used in the assault. Officers went into the apartment where they met a crying five-year-old child [NAME REDACTED]. Officers asked the child if “daddy hurt mommy?” and the child stated “yeah.” Officers later located Defendant in the vicinity of 2nd St. NE and Harrison Ave.
N. Defendant admitted to taking Victim’s phone, and officers located her phone on him. Defendant is in custody. The State is requesting increased bail based on Victim's belief that Defendant will kill her if he gets arrested or deported and the assault allegedly occurring in front of their joint child.
