On November 20, 2025, at approximately 3:13 P.M., law enforcement officers were dispatched on a report of a burglary of a café in a University of Minnesota building at 229 19th Avenue South in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The reporting party stated that when workers arrived to open the café at 7:00 A.M. On November 20, 2025, they observed missing food items that had been there when the café was closed the day before at 3:00 P.M. The reporting party stated that approximately $100 worth of food items from the café were missing.
Law enforcement officers reviewed surveillance within the building showing the incident, and observed an individual that they had previous contacts with in the video, MOHAMED SEED YUSSUF (DOB: Jan-01- 1989), “Defendant” herein. Defendant and two other individuals can be seen in the video entering the café area at approximately 6:11 A.M., moving out of camera view while behind the counter, and then later leaving with objects in hand. This building on the University of Minnesota campus is not open to the public and is only accessible by key card during the hours of 6:00 A.M. And 10:00 P.M. Defendant was later deemed to not have a valid key card.
Defendant was later stopped near the Wilson Library on the University of Minnesota campus on November 23, 2025, at 3:56 P.M., wearing the same jacket as he was during the incident, and was arrested for the incident. Defendant is presently in-custody.
