On December 22, 2025 at approximately 1:37 P.M. Northfield police officers were dispatched to a gas station in Northfield, Rice County, Minnesota for a report of a fight. Dispatch advised that two males were physically fighting inside of the store. When officers arrived, they observed a male, later identified as Victim 1, walking from the store toward a vehicle. Victim 1 had their hand wrapped in a jacket and their face appeared red and bloody. Victim 1 spoke with officers and stated he went into the store to use the restroom when another male entered and assaulted him.
Victim 1 declined to tell the officers the identity of the male that assaulted him. Officers spoke with the reporting party who stated they observed a male and female walk into the store followed by the suspect, clenching his fists. The suspect followed the male into the bathroom and locked the door. The reporting party heard yelling and loud banging sounds in the bathroom. The reporting party called 911 and the suspect left on foot. Officers obtained a photograph of the suspect from the reporting party.
Another officer identified the suspect as MARTIN ROSAS JR. [DOB REDACTED], defendant herein. Officers reviewed defendant’s driver’s licenses photograph and confirmed it matched the photograph of the suspect. Officers located an address for defendant and made contact with him at that location. When asked if he had been at the gas station earlier, defendant stated he had. Defendant stated he had ongoing issues with Victim 1. Defendant said he was on a jog and decided to stop at the gas station. When he saw Victim 1, his emotions took over.
Defendant admitted to assaulting Victim 1. The manager of the gas station reported that the door to the bathroom had been broken during the altercation and the cost of repair was $1,644.38.
