On August 14, 2025, officers of the Spring Lake Park Police Department received a report from M. R. Who told officers that she was informed by S. J. That his ex-girlfriend, Lauren Elizabeth Rea, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, had been using the business credit card of M. R. To make purchases from Amazon. M. R. Explained that Defendant has not been employed by her since 2017 and, since then, has not had permission to use the company card. Officers took a statement from S. J. Who confirmed that he told M. R. About the transactions.
He indicated that he noticed that Defendant was still receiving packages from M. R.’s business account. S. J. Provided officers with 18 garbage bags full of items he indicated were from the fraudulent transactions. Law enforcement executed search warrants at residences associated with Defendant in the city of Nowthen and in the city of Blaine, both in Anoka County, Minnesota and located a large amount of items identified to have been fraudulently obtained. In a non-custodial statement to law enforcement, Defendant indicated that she had no idea that she was using M. R.’s card and told officers that her Amazon account defaults to use a credit card and she has not checked which card.
Defendant told officers that she never checks her bank account so she did not notice that the money for the purchases did not come out of her account. Officers also obtained records from Amazon indicating that between December 4, 2023, and August 8, 2025, 932 items were ordered under Defendant’s name and email address and shipped to addresses associated with Defendant. All of those transactions were made using M. R.’s credit card. The total value of those items was $20,071.81.
