On or about November 1, 2025 at approximately 2:04 AM, Deputy Mancini of the Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported motor vehicle collision in the area of 7th Ave and Glen Road in the City of Newport, Washington County, Minnesota. Call notes indicated a small sedan struck a pole near railroad tracks and the driver, later identified as KEITH DOUGLAS WASIELESKI, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, was seen stumbling around. Upon arrival, the deputy observed a vehicle on the opposite side of the railroad track fence crashed into a pole and the fence.
Upon contact, the deputy detected the strong smell of alcohol emanating from Defendant. The deputy observed that Defendnat presented with bloodshot and watery eyes, as well as slurred speech. Defendant admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving. The deputy administered standardized field sobriety tests, during which Defendant performed poorly. Defendant agreed to submit to a PBT, which yielded a sample of 0.274. Based on Defendant's driving conduct and the deputy's observations of indica of impairment, Defendant was placed under arrest.
Defendant was read the Minnesota Breath Test Advisory and agreed to submit to a DMT breath test, which displayed a result of 0.22 BAC at 3:23 AM. A review of Defendant's criminal history shows one prior impaired driving conviction within the last ten years from 2023 (••-CR-••-••••).
