On October 12, 2025, at approximately 10:20 pm, Minneapolis police officers were dispatched to a disturbance at an apartment in the 3000 block of 22nd Avenue South in Minneapolis, Hennepin County. Call notes indicated the reporting party stated someone was inside their apartment refusing to leave and also refusing to let the reporting party leave. Upon arrival, officers were met by the reporting party at the front door. The reporting party stated she and her boyfriend, CLARENCE EUGENE POINTER, JR. ([DOB redacted]), Defendant herein, were in a verbal argument and that Defendant was refusing to leave her apartment.
Reporting party further stated that Defendant had been holding her in her apartment and refusing to let her leave. The reporting party stated she was concerned for her safety and afraid of Defendant, and requested officers remove Defendant from her apartment. Officers entered the apartment and searched for Defendant. While searching the bedroom, officers observed a black handgun lying on the bed. Officers then found Defendant hiding under the bed. Officers ordered Defendant to come out but he refused to comply and was eventually physically removed and placed under arrest.
Officers recovered the handgun. Forensic testing was performed, and a DNA profile matching Defendant was found on the gun. Defendant was convicted of Third Degree Assault, a crime of violence, on 3/20/23 in ••-CR-••-•••• and is prohibited from possessing firearms. Based on the foregoing, the State requests a warrant to protect public safety and ensure Defendant's appearance in court.
