On February 10, 2026 law enforcement officers from the Carlton County Sheriff''s Office, Cloquet Police Department, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and Drug Enforcement Administration executed a search warrant at 335 2nd Street, in Cloquet, within Carlton County. The address was known to be the residence of Jordan James Furnas [DOB REDACTED] who was suspected of drug activity. On approach to the residence, officers observed Defendant on the front porch with another male. When officers arrived Defendant fled into the residence.
Officers knocked and announced they had a search warrant and Defendant emerged and was detained. Officers observed Defendant's mother and a young child in the living room of the residence. Officer's learned as well that Zayla Monae Thygeson Johnson [DOB REDACTED] was in an upstairs bedroom. Zayla Johnson was known to be a girlfriend of Defendant. Officers located Johnson upstairs and searched Defendant and Johnson's room upstairs. In Defendant and Johnson's upstairs bedroom officers located a black backpack containing pre packaged squares of tinfoil, officers knew from their experience to be common packaging for the sale of doses of Fentanyl.
Total field weight of these items was 3.33 grams Officers also located a bowl containing a large chunk of suspected Fentanyl, a schedule I controlled substance. The suspected Fentanyl was sitting next to a digital scale and box of sandwich bags, which officers recognized as paraphernalia for the packaging of controlled substances for sale. The substance field tested positive for the presence of Fentanyl, with a field weight of 34.75 grams. Additionally, during the search, officers located a package of suspected Fentanyl hidden near the couch where the young child [NAME REDACTED]. This item field tested positive for the presence of Fentanyl with a field weight of 6.94 grams.
Based on the quantity of Fentanyl present, the packaging of Fentanyl for sale and the presence of scale and packaging material the State alleges Defendant possessed with the intent to sell.
