That on October 17, 2025, at approximately 1621 hours, Officers M. A. And L. G., Minneapolis Police, were dispatched to a property damage car accident at 3248 – 46th Avenue South, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, Officers learned that a vehicle (MN Lic.#PFG497, 2010 Volvo XC60) had struck a parked car. The driver of the striking vehicle was identified as Defendant herein, Steven Leroy Bergerson, [DOB REDACTED]. Defendant admitted to driving and stated that his vehicle had malfunctioned causing the crash.
Defendant smelled of an alcoholic beverage, had watery eyes, and admitted consuming alcohol. Defendant showed multiple clues of impairment in the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test and the Walk-and-Turn test and provided a breath sample for the preliminary breath test (PBT) which showed his alcohol level to be 0.13. Defendant was placed under arrest and a warrant was obtained for his blood/urine and at 1828 hours, Defendant provided a voluntary, evidentiary sample of his blood pursuant to the warrant.
Later testing of Defendant’s blood by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension showed his alcohol level to be 0.103. State records show that at the time of the listed driving, Defendant’s privileges to drive were Revoked in the State of Minnesota. State records also show that Defendant was previously arrested for DWI on 06/24/2024, convicted of that offense on 10/03/2024, and received a sustained designated alcohol related loss of license for that offense on 07/01/2024 (27CR2414184).
