On July 18, 2025, at approximately 11:47 pm, officers responded to the parking lot of Gay 90's nightclub in downtown Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, for a shots-fired call. Review of video surveillance showed a person dressed in a mustard color sweatsuit walking down the street minutes before the shooting. This person was later identified as Torres Dashawn Berrien, hereafter defendant. Defendant is seen on surveillance walking with two other people and then getting into a verbal argument with another group of people.
Shortly after, also on surveillance, the defendant is seen in the parking lot as words are exchanged with the opposing party. Shots are fired and dozens of people scatter from the area. Defendant then runs through the parking lot and is seen with a firearm in his hand and eventually runs away from the scene, placing the firearm in his waistband. The area is later processed by officers and multiple discharged cartridge casings are located where the shooting occurred. Defendant was identified based on the video surveillance and his numerous contacts and interactions with local law enforcement.
Defendant has a prior felony conviction for Aiding and Abetting Aggravated Robbery from Washington County in 82-CR-20-4311 dated 4/15/22. The defendant presents a threat to public safety and the State is seeking a warrant for his arrest.
