On December 11, 2025, at 11:37 A.M., Ramsey County Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Little Canada Road East, Little Canada, County of Ramsey, on an assault. Deputy Campbell arrived and spoke with CFM. CFM said her former friend-later identified as CARLETTA KING, [DOB REDACTED]- stayed at her apartment the prior night. CFM said she awakened in the morning feeling anxious. She looked for her anxiety medication in the apartment. She asked KING if she saw the pill bottle with her medication.
KING asked something like, “How could you have lost your medication since you’re a pill fiend?” This upset CFM. KING kept telling her to calm down. CFM told KING to leave her apartment. KING took her time to gather her belongings. KING was going to leave but saw her coat hanging on a coat rack. KING went into the apartment to get her coat. CFM pushed KING toward the door to get her out of the apartment. KING told her to stop touching her because she was going through some “s*** right now.” KING pulled out a small black handgun from her pocket, pointed it at her, and pressed the barrel of the gun to the left side of her head/face.
CFM yelled at KING, “If you’re going to pull a gun on me, you may as well shoot me. So f****** shoot me!” KING put her gun back into her pocket. KING grabbed her by the throat with both hands and squeezed her throat causing her to only be able to speak quietly and hoarsely. CFM was shoved into the hall wall. KING left the apartment. CFM followed her because she was angry. When asked if she was in a relationship with KING, CFM said, “in the past.” CFM had visible marks on her neck. Her left middle finger was bleeding.
Officers located KING across the street in the parking lot of the New Day Thrift Store on Lake Shore Drive in Little Canada. Upon inquiry, KING said she did have a firearm inside a bag around her body. KING was arrested. A firearm, black Smith & Wesson 380 handgun, loaded with a bullet in the chamber, was found inside KING’s bag. Another loaded magazine and a plastic bag with more ammunition was also found in KING’s bag. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were also located on KING. KING said she had a permit to carry a firearm.
Deputies verified KING has a valid permit to carry a firearm out of Hennepin County. After a Miranda advisory, KING spoke to deputies. KING said she dated CFM for some time. They broke up approximately nine months prior. She arrived at CFM’s apartment on December 9th to spend the night. CFM woke up and was throwing things around the apartment. KING told CFM that she needs to stop abusing her medication. KING was going to leave. She lit up a marijuana blunt. CFM began throwing her items around. CFM went into her son’s room and told him, “You need to come and beat this b**** ass.” KING began to gather her belongings to leave.
