On May 2, 2023, Detective Smith with the Anoka-Hennepin Narcotics and Violent Crimes Task Force (AHDTF) was searching through local chats on his law enforcement created account on Telegram, a social median site. He observed within the chat there was a posting belonging to "Blake Rindahl," later fully identified as Blake Andrew Rindahl, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter the Defendant, stating "anyone looking for go fast?" The message was posted in the early morning hours of May 2, 2023. Detective Smith began messaging with the Defendant regarding the purchase and sale of methamphetamine.
On June 13, he arranged to purchase of a "ball" for $85. A "ball" refers to one eighth of an ounce or 3.5 grams of controlled substances. The Defendant agreed to meet the detective at predetermined location within Anoka County. Detective Smith acted as purchaser during the controlled buy, while other members of the AHDTF monitored the purchase, in the city of Coon Rapids, Anoka County, Minnesota. Police conducted two additional controlled buys from the Defendant, one on June 21, 2023 and another on July 19, 2023. The substances from each of the sales were sent to the Midwest regional forensics laboratory.
All three substances tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine. The methamphetamine purchased from the Defendant on June 13 weighed 3.749 grams, the methamphetamine purchased on June 21, weighed 13.661 grams, and the final purchase of methamphetamine weighed 46.521 grams. The total of the three sales was 63.931 an occurred within a 90 day period.
