On September 17, 2025, officers with the Minneapolis Police Department received a walk-in report regarding the sexual abuse of a child. The reporter indicated that her six-year-old niece, A. O. (herein Victim) was sexually abused by her father who was identified as EUGENE HOWARD OLSON; [DOB REDACTED] (herein Defendant). An investigator was assigned to the case, and Victim was scheduled for a forensic interview at CornerHouse on September 29, 2025. During the forensic interview, Victim disclosed that the Defendant made her play a game where she would count.
While she counted, the Defendant took his clothes off. After he took all of his clothes off, he touched Victim’s vagina with his face over Victim’s clothes. Victim also disclosed that the Defendant would touch her vagina with his hands and his feet, and he would make her touch his penis with her hand. She said that this touching occurred when she was 3 years old. Following the interview, Victim expressed concern that her Aunt would find out that she didn’t talk about everything that happened to her.
The investigator spoke with family members of the Defendant including the Defendant’s sister M. O. And learned that the Defendant was accused of sexually assaulting other child victims. This included once in Wisconsin and once in Anoka County involving another one of his daughters. M. O. Stated that she has noticed several signs that Victim [NAME REDACTED]. This includes several incidents of acting out sexually. M. O. Also recalled a time in which her husband was tickling Victim one day and Victim began taking her clothes off.
When asked what she was doing, Victim stated “this is what daddy does.” M. O. Also said that Victim previously disclosed that the Defendant had performed an act of sexual penetration against Victim. The investigator also spoke with the Defendant during a voluntary interview on October 6, 2025. The Defendant stated that he spent seven years living on Jefferson Street NE in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota and that Victim [NAME REDACTED] during that time. He moved out in 2023 and moved in with his mother at another Minneapolis residence.
The Defendant confirmed that there were times at the Jefferson Street NE home when he would be the only adult in the home with Victim. During the interview, the Defendant confirmed that he served time in Wisconsin for having a relationship with a 16-year-old girl. The Defendant was not arrested following the interview. Police learned on October 8, 2025, that the Defendant had attempted suicide and was taken to the hospital where his wounds were treated. The time that Victim was three years old until the time that the Defendant moved out of the Jefferson Street NE house would include the range of October 4, 2021, to January 1, 2024. The Defendant is not currently in custody.
