On or about April 1, 2026, around 9:18 P.M., officers with the Minneapolis Police Department responded to an assault on the 100 Block of Glenwood Avenue, in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, officers made contact with T. M. M., Victim herein, who had visibly swollen eyes, dried blood on his face and blood staining his jacket and pants. While trying to get a statement Victim kept telling the officers to review the surveillance footage. In reviewing the footage officers saw Harlandez Aaron Meals, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, punch Victim in the head causing Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Victim [NAME REDACTED], his entire body went stiff.
Immediately after Victim regains consciousness and Defendant continues to hit him with his hands and feet several time. The officers searched the area for Defendant who was not able to be located. Around 1:31 A.M. On April 2, 2026, officers returned to the address as Defendant had returned and been held by on-site security. Officers arrested Defendant. In a post Miranda Statement, Defendant made claims of self-defense that were not supported by further review of the surveillance footage or comments from on scene security staff.
Defendant is in custody on this charge. Defendant is also pending sentencing on a separate felony case 27-CR-26-3349.
