The following is based on your complainant’s review of the reports of other officers and your complainant’s own investigation: On September 2, 2025, at about 11:00am, Maplewood Police received a report of shoplifting at Best Buy, [ADDRESS REDACTED]. D East, Maplewood, Ramsey County. A supervisor reported that about 15 minutes earlier, a male customer had grabbed a gaming monitor from the shelves and walked out of the store with it, without making any attempt to pay. Surveillance video was recovered.
It shows a blue Mazda entering the parking lot. Two minutes later, a man enters the store, as the Mazda moves toward the front of the store. Less than two minutes after that, the man exits the store with the stolen monitor and walks toward the Mazda. The registered owner of the Mazda was found to be the defendant, KEITH LAMONT NELSON ([DOB REDACTED]). He was positively identified as the man seen stealing the monitor. The stolen monitor had a value of nearly $1,700. The defendant's criminal record includes a 2023 conviction for Theft of Motor Vehicle, for which he was on probation at the time of this incident.
He is currently in custody in Ramsey County, with an expected release date in late February 2026. For this reason, a warrant to secure his appearance is respectfully requested.
