On January 2, 2026, officers were alerted that a male, identified as JUSTIN KARIAKIS VALENCIA, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant, had a firearm on him, and that he was near a restaurant on the 1400 block of Nicolle Ave., in the city of Minneapolis, in Hennepin County, in the state of Minnesota. A camera operator located a male in that vicinity who matched the description of Defendant, and in the video, it appeared that Defendant was handing a handgun to persons inside a black Ford Explorer. Officers located Defendant at 18W 15th Street and placed him under arrest.

Officers then met the reporting party in the Ford Explorer, who provided officers with a Glock 43X handgun that was loaded. The reporting party identified this as the handgun that Defendant had handed to her. Defendant is prohibited from possessing a firearm based on the following convictions for crimes of violence: 1) Aggravated Robbery in the 1st Degree, dated 5/19/2016 (Court File # 62-CR-15-9313); 2) Assault in the 2nd Degree, dated 5/19/2016 (Court File # 62-CR-15-9313); 3) Burglary in the 1st Degree, dated 6/27/2016 (Court File # 62-CR-15-8872). Defendant is in custody.
