On or about May 31, 2026, officers responded to a reported robbery of a business at [address omitted] North in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The reporting party and store owner, D. H., stated the suspect stole an item from the store, shoved an employee, and then ran out of the store. D. H. Said he later saw the suspect get onto a Metro Transit bus. D. H. Followed the bus until the bus stopped at the intersection of Penn Avenue North and 43rd Avenue North. D. H. Described the suspect as a black male, approximately 5’6”, wearing a black and white jacket and black pants.
Officers located D. H. At the intersection of Penn and 43rd. D. H. Told officers that this same suspect steals from his store frequently, and D. H. Had the suspect trespassed from the store. D. H. Said his store has had ongoing problems with the suspect, including a prior incident where the suspect became violent with employees. D. H. Provided a copy of the trespass notice, which had been issued to “Joseph Scott Walls.” Officers later learned “Joseph Scott Walls” is JOSEPH SCOTT FELIX (“Defendant” herein). D. H. Also showed officers surveillance video from the store.
The video showed a suspect matching Defendant grab something from the store, run towards the front door holding the item, shove an employee out of the way, and exit the store with the item. Officers entered the Metro Transit bus D. H. Had said Defendant was on and located Defendant. Defendant was placed in handcuffs and removed from the bus. D. H. Told officers he recognized Defendant as the person who had been trespassed from the store. Officers went back to the store and spoke with staff. One staff member, J. G. (“Victim” herein), recognized Defendant when he entered the store.
Victim saw Defendant grab a metal pot and head towards the exit. Victim attempted to block Defendant from leaving, and Defendant used his body to push Victim aside and exit the store. Victim and another store employee called D. H. To report the incident. D. H. Went to the store to review surveillance video and then searched the area for Defendant. D. H. Was unable to locate Defendant at that time, but later in the day he saw Defendant get on the Metro Transit bus. D. H. Called police to report the incident when he saw Defendant getting on the bus.
Defendant was arrested and brought to the Hennepin County jail. Officers interviewed Defendant, who claimed he had never been trespassed from the store. Defendant admitted to being inside the store, but then he became upset with questions and declined to speak further with officers. Defendant remains in custody.
