On December 10, 2025, at approximately 9:45 A.M., Brooklyn Center police were dispatched to a burglary at Wingstop, located at 1180 Shingle Creek Crossing, in Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County. Officers responded and spoke with the employee L. W., who reported that when she arrived at work, she noticed the safe by the register was open and money was missing. L. W. Told police she had watched the cameras and observed an unidentified person had used a key to enter the building, walked to the safe and took money out, before leaving the store.
L. W. Stated the suspect had punched in a code to open the safe. This occurred at approximately 3:39 A.M. Police later received an update that $1,373 was taken from the safe. Police inquired with L. W. About the individuals that would have access to the safe, and L. W. Stated approximately 8 managers and she would send a list. Hennepin County Crime Lab responded to the property to process the scene for prints and photographs. A short time later, L. W. Told police that she observed a car approach and then leave on the surveillance footage.
L. W. Later told police she recognized the car and possibly knew who had taken the money. L. W. Pulled up surveillance footage of the vehicle from months prior, showing a 2015 black Toyota Corolla (WU8701). L. W. Told police the vehicle belonged to a prior employee identified as TAMEAKA LASHAE DUNSTON [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. A detective spoke with L. W. About Defendant and L. W. Stated Defendant was the closing manager until a few weeks prior. She reported that she was having issues with Defendant, so Defendant turned in her keys, but it was not known is she made a copy of the keys.
L. W. Stated the suspect matched the physical build of Defendant. On January 21, 2026, the detective received the latent prints report from the lab. Within the surveillance footage, the suspect is seen grabbing the countertop while bending over. The lab ran the fingerprints, which matched the left ring finger and left pinky finger of Defendant. At present, Defendant is not in custody.
