On November 27, 2025 at approximately 1:27 A.M., Officer Whiteside was dispatched to the area of 7th Avenue and Highway 10, in the City of Anoka, County of Anoka, State of Minnesota, on a report of a slumper in the intersection in a grey Pontiac Vibe, MN license CXR958. Upon arrival, Officer Whiteside observed the vehicle in the southbound left lane in the intersection of 7th Avenue exit ramp from eastbound Highway 10. The vehicle was occupied by a lone male, later identified via MN driver’s license as DARRIN TAILLEFER HEIFORT, [DOB REDACTED], the defendant herein.
Officer Whiteside approached the vehicle and observed the defendant slumped over in the driver’s seat and appeared to be sleeping. Officers observed the vehicle was running and was in ‘Drive’. Officers used their squads to prevent the suspect vehicle from moving and attempted to wake the defendant. Officers were not able to wake the defendant by knocking on the window so they opened the driver door, placed the vehicle in ‘Park’, turned off the engine, and removed the keys from the ignition. Eventually the defendant began to open his eyes.
Officers asked the defendant if he was drunk or if he took something and he stated, “both”. Officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the defendant and observed that his eyes were bloodshot and watery. The defendant was asked what he took and he did not respond. Officers placed a PBT straw in the defendant’s mouth as he was yawning and received a manual capture result of.100. Allina paramedics arrived on scene to evaluate the defendant and he started to become more alert and responsive.
The defendant admitted to consuming three rum and cokes prior to driving but stated he didn’t take anything else. Officers noted that the defendant had slurred speech. Paramedics then cleared the defendant. Officer Whiteside administered the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test and observed multiple clues of impairment. The defendant was arrested and was read the MN Breath Test Advisory, which he stated he understood and agreed to submit to a breath test. The defendant was then transported to the Anoka Police Department where the DataMaster test revealed an alcohol concentration of.16 at 2:20 A.M. The defendant was then transported to the Anoka County Jail.
The above facts constitute the Complainant’s basis for believing that the above-named defendant on the 27th day of November 2025, in the City of Anoka, County of Anoka, State of Minnesota, there did commit the above-named offense(s).
