On October 23, 2025, at approximately 5:00 A.M., Minnetonka Police Officers were dispatched to an apartment at [ADDRESS REDACTED]., Minnetonka, Hennepin County, for a reported criminal sexual assault. Officers spoke with the reporting party, hereinafter “Victim,” who indicated she was sexually assaulted approximately 20 minutes earlier in the parking lot. She indicated the suspect, later identified as DARREN DERREL HARRIS, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter “Defendant,” left in his red Tesla. Victim said she met Defendant earlier that evening in Saint Paul.
She and a friend went to a concert and were waiting at a bar for crowds to dissipate. She met Defendant and one of his friends. She later invited Defendant back to her apartment in Minnetonka. He followed her and her friend in his red Telsa. They arrived at her apartment at approximately 2:30 A.M. Defendant said he was tired and went to lay down on her bed. Victim [NAME REDACTED] didn’t want to do anything and didn’t want to have sex. He tried to pull her onto the bed and told her multiple times to close the door because her friend was still in the living room.
Victim was texting her friend and trying to get her friend to help her get him out of her room. Eventually, Defendant stated he was tired and wanted to go home. He asked if Victim would walk him to his vehicle in the visitor’s parking lot. She agreed to walk him to his car. Defendant then offered her a ride back to her apartment. When she got into the passenger seat of his car, he forced himself on her. She said he reached over and got one of her legs out of her leggings. He pulled her on top of him and put his penis in her vagina.
He told her he had a condom, and everything was fine. She said at first she was on top of him, but he turned her around at some point and was on top of her. Victim [NAME REDACTED] at least four times. Defendant kept saying, “Let me finish.” She told him “Stop, I don’t want to do this.” She said he continued to penetrate her and every time she thought he was done, he would keep going. This lasted approximately 20 minutes. When he finally stopped, she rolled over into the passenger seat and pulled up her pants.
She left her underwear in his car and ran out back to her apartment. Officers spoke to Victim’s friend who was still in the apartment. She confirmed that Defendant came back to the apartment with them earlier that evening. He was in Victim’s room and Victim [NAME REDACTED]. She showed officers the text messages Victim sent to her trying while she was in the room. She said that Victim left to walk him to his car and they were gone for about twenty minutes. She saw Victim running back to the apartment and she was crying when she got inside.
Victim [NAME REDACTED], “I’m so scared. I don’t know what to do. He just raped me.” She then called 911. Officers were able to identify Defendant through his phone number and matched his registration to a red Tesla. Defendant was located at his address, placed under arrest, and brought to the Minnetonka Police Department. After being advised of his Miranda rights, Defendant agreed to provide a statement. He said that Victim and her friend approached him and his friend at the Truck Park bar in Saint Paul.
