The following is based on your complainant’s review of the reports of other officers and your complainant’s own investigation: On June 12, 2026, at about 3:30am, St. Paul Police responded to a home on Timberlake Rd. In St. Paul, Ramsey County on a reported domestic altercation. On arrival, officers met with ALJ (9/1/1985), who lives at the home. She said that she has been in a romantic relationship with the defendant, ANTHONY LAVEL MCCOY (1/23/1995). She said that on this night, they argued, and she told him that she wanted him to leave.
She said that when he refused to do so, she placed his belongings outside on the porch. She said that he told her, “this is war,” and then threw a glass liquor bottle at her, from outside as she stood on the threshold of the home. She said that she was shocked and frightened. The defendant had called 911 with the claim that ALJ had stabbed him. He reiterated to officers that she had stabbed him with what he believed to be screwdriver. He said that she also poured bleach on him. Officers observed and photographed the scene, including shattered glass from the liquor bottle in a pattern consistent with ALJ’s account.
There were lacerations to the defendant’s hands that did not appear consistent with stab wounds. A screwdriver was on a table outside of the front door, but there was no blood on it. Oily liquid was nearby on the porch, and a bleach container was on the sidewalk. A neighbor of ALJ said that he heard a commotion and the sound of breaking glass. He said that he then saw ALJ near the threshold of her home; she was screaming, “he just threw something at me!” He said that the defendant was nearby in a fighting stance, saying, “This is war!” He said that AJL locked her door, and police showed up soon thereafter.
The neighbor said that it appeared to him that the defendant was the primary aggressor; he noticed no injury to the defendant’s hand at the time. The defendant was taken into custody. In a Mirandized interview, the defendant said that ALJ had recently been angry with him due to his cheating on her. He claimed that she had been trying to stab him all day but that he had successfully dodged them. He also claimed to have bruises from past assaults by her but declined to show them to officers. He claimed that his hand was injured by blocking her from stabbing him with the screwdriver.
The defendant further claimed that it was ALJ who had thrown the liquor bottle from the front door out at him. (In fact, the glass pattern indicates that it was thrown the opposite direction.) The defendant faces a pending charge of Domestic Assault – Felony for repeatedly punching and kicking another woman, the mother of his children. He is on a conditional release in that case (Case No. 62-CR- 25-8374). The defendant has been convicted of at least the following qualified domestic violence-related offenses: 1. Violation of Harassment Restraining Order – Misdemeanor Convicted August 26, 2021 Case No. ••-CR-••-•••• 2. Assault in the Fifth Degree – Misdemeanor Convicted October 16, 2019 2 ••-CR-••-•••• Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 6/12/2026 Case No.
