At around 11:45 PM on December 23, 2025, officers were sent to [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County on a gun-pointing incident. The 911 caller said her husband pointed a firearm at her and threatened to shoot her. Officers spoke to MYL [DOB REDACTED] outside the home. MYL said she and her husband, SHOUA XIONG [DOB REDACTED] went to a family member’s home for a Christmas celebration earlier that evening. Xiong became extremely drunk. They discovered one of their children had friends over when they returned home.
Xiong was upset that there were people in the home who had not been announced. Xiong grabbed a rifle from the closet. MYL asked Xiong what he was doing, and she told him to put the rifle away. Xiong ignored MYL’s requests. Xiong inserted a magazine into the rifle, slung the rifle over his shoulder, and left the bedroom. Xiong encountered one of their sons downstairs. A short time later the son returned to the bedroom with the firearm Xiong had left with. MYL removed the magazine from the rifle and hid it on her side of the bed.
MYL hid the rifle under a dresser. Xiong entered the bedroom looking for the firearm. Xiong and MYL argued about the missing rifle. Xiong then retrieved a different rifle from the bedroom closet. Xiong placed the rifle on the bed, and MYL reached over and removed its magazine. Xiong demanded MYL return the magazine; she refused. Xiong walked to the corner of the bedroom and inserted another magazine. MYL heard what sounded like Xiong chambering a round in the rifle. Xiong pointed the rifle at MYL and threatened to kill her.
MYL grabbed her cell phone and called 911. Xiong put the firearm away in a black case on their bed. MYL recorded videos of Xiong in possession of the firearms while in the home. Officers spoke to the couple’s son, AX. AX said he was in the basement when he suddenly heard a “racking noise” from a gun. AX saw Xiong walk downstairs with an AR-style rifle slung on his shoulder. AX got into a physical altercation with Xiong, and he gained control of the rifle. AX could tell Xiong was intoxicated from the smell coming from his father.
AX removed the magazine and saw it did not contain bullets. AX gave the AR to his mother. MYL gave police Xiong’s phone number. A Hmong-speaking officer talked to Xiong. Xiong said his house had previously been shot by Karen juveniles. When Xiong got home, he became upset because his son had Karen friends over. Xiong wanted the Karen friends to leave; Xiong and MYL argued about it. When asked what the issue with the gun was, Xiong denied there was an issue with the gun. Xiong agreed to exit the home.
Xiong was arrested. Xiong declined a custodial interview. Officer executed a search warrant on the home. Officers recovered the two rifles and a variety of other firearm-related items. Officers found a rifle cartridge on the stairway up to the second floor.
