John Wayne Balderston

On February 18, 2026, Saint Paul Police were dispatched to an address on Robie Street East, Saint Paul, County of Ramsey, on a burglary report. Officer Museus arrived and spoke with KOG. KOG said he lives at the residence, a sober house. He was on his way to work when he received a notification from security camera in his bedroom. He saw a former resident of the sober house-JOHN WAYNE BALDERSTON, [DOB REDACTED]-(referred to by KOG as John) in his bedroom. BALDERSTON moved out of the house about two weeks prior.

KOG said he saw BALDERSTON going through his belongings in his room. The following items were missing from his room- a gold chain with “XXXXXX” (KOG’s last name); a thick gold rope chain, a gold ring, a gold chain with tiger wearing crown pendant; and black beats headphones. The items were on KOG’s headboard shelf and the jewelry was in a Tupperware container. BALDERSTON also carried KOG’s roommate’s water jug with approximately $400 in cash and coins out of his room. BALDERSTON tried to steal a black flashlight from KOG’s room, but dropped it on his way out.

KOG showed Officer Museus a video on his phone from a security video. In the video, a male is seen going through KOG’s belongings inside his room. In the video, it is difficult to see the specific items BALDERSTON stole. On February 20, 2026, KOG spoke to an investigator. KOG again described BALDERSTON going through and stealing his belongings. KOG said that the theft of his jewelry was not captured on video because the jewelry was located out of camera view and the camera did not begin recording until motion detected.

KOG said a JBL Bluetooth speaker was also stolen, value $125. KOG’s roommate-LJS- spoke to Officer Grundhauser on February 19, 2026. LJS said a five gallon jar with $247.18 was stolen from his room. House Manager TM spoke with an investigator on February 20, 2026. TM said he was not home when the incident happened. KOG called him and told him BALDERSTON was inside the house. TM returned to the house. KOG showed him the video of the incident on his phone. TM identified BALDERSTON as the suspect in the video.

TM said BALDERSTON used another resident’s (DT’s) code to enter through the back door of the house. DT left the residence through the front door on the day of the incident and was not at home when his code was used to enter through the back door. DM leases the house. DM provided screenshots of the codes used for the date of the incident, February 18th. An investigator reviewed the screenshots that showed DT’s code was used at February 18th at 12:35. KOG’s phone video from security video is time stamped 12:38.
