On December 9, 2025, law enforcement were conducting surveillance of ROBERT KENET BAILEY, DEFENDANT herein, and observed him exit a Greyhound bus that had just arrived at the 615 North 2nd Avenue, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, from Chicago, Illinois. Your affiant had been conducting a long-term narcotics investigation into DEFENDANT and had a warrant for his person and bags he was carrying. Detectives detained DEFENDANT after he exited the bus. He was carrying one bag. They executed the search warrant and recovered the following items in his bag: - A loaded 9mm Baretta pistol; - An unloaded 9 mm magazine; - A box of 9 mm ammunition; - A bag holding 448.23 grams of field-tested positive methamphetamine.
Detectives ran the serial number on the firearm and learned it was stolen from Iowa. DEFENDANT has multiple convictions and arrests from Illinois, including but not limited to: 2009- Unlawful possession of a weapon, 2010- Reckless discharge of a firearm, 2012- Aggravated battery of a government official, 2016- Kidnapping, home invasion/ great bodily harm. The latter two appear to be felony convictions for offenses that would be crimes of violence in Minnesota, prohibiting him from possessing a firearm.
The investigation also showed that DEFENDANT made a short-term trip to Chicago around Thanksgiving before returning to Minneapolis. Chicago is a source location for controlled substances. DEFENDANT is currently in custody.
