On January 6, 2026, at approximately 5:52 P.M., Rochester Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle due to a equipment violation near 8th Ave SE and E Center Street, Olmsted County, Minnesota. The front seat passenger was identified as BARRINGTON MICHAEL DANIEL [DOB REDACTED]. During a search of DANIEL’s person, officers located $1,720 in cash in his pocket and a large amount of crystal substance in his jacket. The crystal substance field tested positive as methamphetamine and weighed 49.1 grams without packaging.
Officers also located a tan bag on the floor of the front passenger seat. Inside the tan bag contained a baggie with a small amount of white powdery substance suspected of methamphetamine, along with clear plastic baggies, and multiple glass pipes with residue. Based on the officer’s training and experience, individuals engaging in sales and distribution of controlled substances will often take cash for payment for product due to it being harder to track electronically and use scales along with plastic baggies for packaging and distribution aid.
DANIEL was previously convicted on November 9, 2022, of felony drug possession in the third degree and felony drug sale in the third degree on March 6, 2023. See ••-CR-••-••••, ••-CR-••-••••. DANIEL was arrested and transported to the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center without incident. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: YOU MUST APPEAR FOR EVERY COURT HEARING REGARDING THIS CASE. FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR COURT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE AND MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL CRIMINAL CHARGES BEING IMPOSED AND PUNISHED AS PROVIDED IN MINNESOTA STATUTES SECTION 609.49.
