On June 20, 2025, law enforcement responded to a call of domestic assault near the 2800 block of Pleasant Ave S in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Call remarks indicated that the 911 caller, a known adult female hereinafter Victim, had been strangled and punched. Victim's lips were bleeding. Victim identified her assailant as her ex-boyfriend, CHRISTOPHER J STARK, Defendant herein. Victim reported that Defendant left in his truck. On arrival, law enforcement encountered Victim. Victim was holding her mouth, which was bleeding.
Victim was crying and upset. Victim reported that Defendant was driving her home after a night out with friends. Victim reported trying to end her relationship with Defendant and having that conversation in his car. Victim reported that Defendant became upset during this conversation and placed her in a headlock. This headlock restricted Victim's ability to breathe and Victim described it as "being choked out." Victim then reported a blow to the face that split her lip. Victim admitted to biting Defendant to get him to release her.
Defendant took cash from Victim's purse and her set of keys and left the scene. Officers observed injuries to Victim's lip. EMS arrived to treat the injury, and Victim was transported to the hospital. Victim ultimately received several sutures to her lips to treat the bleeding. Medical records document swelling and sutures to the lip as well as injuries consistent with neck injury. Victim further reported at the hospital a history of threatening and controlling behavior by Defendant. Victim stated that Defendant strangled her to the point of urination two weeks prior to the June 20, 2025 incident.
Victim stated her belief is that Defendant may return to Chicago to avoid going to jail. Defendant is currently out of custody. Due to concerns for public safety and Defendant's ties to Illinois, the State is respectfully requesting a warrant.
