Your complainant is employed by the Champlin Police Department. In that capacity, complainant has reviewed official reports filed and has learned substantially the following: On May 31, 2026, at approximately 5:50 P.M., officers were dispatched to a reported theft at Target, located at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Champlin, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Officers were advised that two Black Somali males had taken multiple items, concealed them on their persons, and exited the store without paying for the merchandise.
Officers were further advised that the suspects entered a black Toyota Camry displaying an Ohio license plate and left the parking lot. Officer Kaczmarek responded to the area and located the suspect vehicle traveling westbound on 117th Avenue. Officer Kaczmarek initiated a traffic stop. Upon approach, Officer Kaczmarek observed that both the driver and the passenger matched the provided descriptions of the suspects. Officer Kaczmarek reported that both individuals admitted they had been at Target.
Officer Kaczmarek further noted that the vehicle’s window tint was dark and directed the driver to roll down the rear windows. Upon doing so, Officer Kaczmarek observed a pile of packaged merchandise on the rear driver’s side floorboard. Officer Kaczmarek identified the driver as Daud Mohamed Abdulkadir [DOB REDACTED]. The driver stated that the vehicle belonged to his mother. The passenger was subsequently identified as Abdinasir Abdi Aden [DOB REDACTED], the defendant herein. Officers confirmed that the packaged items located in the back seat area of the Camry were the same items reported stolen from Target.
Officers asked the driver to exit the vehicle. During this process, officers observed the defendant reaching into his front sweatshirt pocket and gave him multiple commands to remove his hands from his pockets. The defendant was then removed from the vehicle. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle for stolen merchandise. During the search, Officer Krise located a black Glock handgun under the rear portion of the front passenger seat. The search was expanded, and officers located two additional Glock firearms under the front portion of the front passenger seat.
All firearms and associated ammunition were removed from the vehicle and placed into evidence. Officers conducted checks on both the defendant and the driver and confirmed that neither possessed a permit to carry a firearm. The defendant and the driver were placed under arrest and transported to the Hennepin County Jail.
