On 04/22/2026 at about 1132 hours, St. Paul Police responded to Your Exchange at 785 7th St. In St. Paul, Ramsey County on a report that a female named "Keyana Williams" ([DOB redacted]) who was trying to cash stolen checks. Police arrived and identified the suspect as Keyana Tarae WILLIAMS (DOB/1994-03-23). Police spoke to Your Exchange staff who provided the two checks that WILLIAMS was trying to cash. Both were written on the US Bank account of MMR and TJR. Both were dated 04/22/26 and both were made payable to "Keyana Williams." Check #00253 was written in the amount of $280.00 with the memo "utilities." Check #00254, in the amount of $253.12, had "school supplies" written in the memo line.
Each had a signature on it. Police spoke to Your Exchange employee, AV, who said that when WILLIAMS tried to cash the two checks, her supervisor, TY, called MMR who said she did not write the checks. Police spoke to MMR who said she never asked her bank to issue her any checks nor had ever ordered checks for the account. Finally, MMR said she did not know anyone named "Keyana Williams" and did not write any checks to her. WILLIAMS said a friend gave her the checks but she could not name the friend.
Williams said the friend was still in a silver 2014 Kia Rio (MN/FRL930) that was parked outside. Officers checked the vehicle, but the female occupant was no longer there. When police tried to detain WILLIAMS, she was combative, tried to pull away, and tried to flee. During the altercation, an officer sustained minor cuts. Once in custody, WILLIAMS started shaking, appeared to be seizing, and was transported to Regions Hospital. WILLIAMS declined to be interviewed.
