On January 14, 2026, at 1845 hours, St. Paul police officers responded to the 600 block of Reaney, St. Paul, Ramsey County, on a 911 text report of domestic threats involving a weapon. Officers arrived and saw the 911 texter, EJR, [DOB REDACTED], climbing out a window. He stated that he was in his room with the door closed watching Netflix. His roommate of two weeks, Muzzammil Ibn Abdussalaam Islam, [DOB REDACTED], was screaming in the common area of the residence. He stated, “I’ll kill you. You ain’t leaving unless you’re in a body bag.
You better call the coroner. I’ll f*** you up. You can call the police but they won’t save you.” EJR stated that when the threats subsided, he left his room and saw Islam standing in the kitchen with an 8- inch butcher knife. He was waving it around and yelling. EJR retreated to his room and locked the door. Islam continued to threaten him from outside the bedroom door. It sounded as if Islam was attempting to enter EJR’s room. EJR texted 911. He said that he was so frightened that he climbed out the window to get away from the scene.
When officers arrived, they heard very loud yelling. The saw Islam through the window. He was pacing around by EJR’s bedroom. He yelled, “Now I’m really getting mad. Now I’m ready to f*** somebody up.” Officers arrested Islam at the residence. In a post-Miranda interview, Islam stated that he was angry because his landlord had texted him to stop bothering EJR. He stated that he gets annoyed when he is cooking in the kitchen and EJR comes out of his room to use the bathroom. He acknowledged that the two argued that morning.
Islam denied threatening EJR. Officers observed and recovered a butcher knife in the kitchen.
