On 8/02/25 at approximately 2:10 A.M. Law enforcement observed a vehicle going 91 m.p.h. Northbound on I35 in Chisago County. A traffic stop was initiated and the vehicle eventually stopped. The driver was identified as KENAJSHIA LUNYE-NICOL CARTLIDGE, [DOB REDACTED], the Defendant herein. The Defendant told law enforcement she was driving home to Oakdale, which law enforcement advised her she was going in the wrong direction. Law enforcement noted the smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle.
Law enforcement went to their patrol vehicle and ran the Defendant's driver's license. They learned she was revoked from a 2024 DWI arrest. They returned to the Defendant and again noticed the smell of an alcoholic beverage. The Defendant said she had a glass of wine earlier. The Defendant performed some field sobriety tests and indicia of impairment were observed. She agreed to blow into a PBT and a 0.195 breath alcohol concentration was revealed. She was arrested. An open bottle of wine was also found on the passenger seat of the Defendant's vehicle.
The Defendant was transported to the Chisago County Jail. At the jail she was read the Breath Test Advisory and declined to speak with an attorney. She provided two sufficient samples for the breath test. A reported value of 0.15 alcohol concentration was recorded at 3:27 A.M. The Defendant has a DWI conviction (0.17 test) on 3/13/25 out of Hennepin County.
