On November 17, 2025, officers with the New Brighton Police Department were investigating a theft from a residence. Specifically, a suspect stole jewelry from a victim’s (“Victim”) home. During that investigation, officers located the stolen jewelry at a pawn shop. The jewelry had been pawned by Reece David Poppie [DOB REDACTED] (“Defendant”). Officers spoke with victim [NAME REDACTED] had conducted electrical work at Victim’s residence in New Brighton. Additionally, Victim [NAME REDACTED] had done electrical work at Victim’s jewelry store (“the Store”) which is located in St. Anthony, Hennepin County, Minnesota.
Officers with the St. Anthony Police Department found that Defendant had pawned other jewelry that was not taken from Victim’s home. Victim believed that some of the other jewelry had been stolen from the Store. On November 20, 2025, officers obtained pawn history from Twin Cities Pawn in Osseo, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Officers found that on August 28, 2025, Defendant had sold four rings to the Osseo pawn shop for $640.00. Officers obtained photographs of the pawned rings and showed them to Victim.
Victim immediately recognized the rings as belonging to the Store. Victim provided officers with documentation that Defendant had worked at the Store on August 27, 2025. Victim appraised the four rings with a total value of $6800.00. Officers were able to recover the rings, and they were returned to Victim.
