On March 11, 2026, at approximately 5:12 P.M., Minnetonka Police received a report of potential shoplifting at JC Penney, located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Minnetonka, Hennepin County. Loss prevention informed police the suspects had passed all points of sale without attempting to pay for or forfeit the merchandise. Police responded and located the suspects and placed them under arrest. The female suspect was identified as CRYSTALLE FAYE MCKENZIE [DOB REDACTED], Defendant McKenzie herein. The male suspect was identified as MANDALE LEONARD JONES [DOB REDACTED], Defendant Jones herein.
Defendant Jones was in possession of the cart containing merchandise and Defendant McKenzie was in possession of stolen fragrances and a purse she had stolen a few days prior from the store. Defendant McKenzie admitted to stealing the fragrances and the purse. Loss prevention provided the total for both suspects and they were cited for theft and released. The total value of loss was $710. Loss Prevention later provided her report and the surveillance to police where they discovered that both Defendants were involved in prior thefts on 02/24/2026 and 03/09/2026. On March 9, 2026, surveillance shows Defendant McKenzie exiting the store with the purse she admitted to stealing.
The value of the purse is $80. On February 24, 2026, both Defendant Jones and Defendant McKenzie are seen selecting multiple items and placing them into the care. The Defendants then push the cart full of merchandise out of the store without attempting to pay for the merchandise. The total value of loss on this date was $739.99. The footage confirmed that both Defendants worked together to select and steal multiple items. The total amount of theft from 02/24 and 3/11 is $1,449.99. Defendant McKenzie additionally stole the $80 purse on 03/09. At present, Defendant Jones and Defendant McKenzie are not in custody.
