Cloud Police Department was dispatched to a report of a domestic assault at a residence located on 24th Street Southeast, in the City of St. Cloud, Sherburne County, Minnesota. The reporting party, later identified as NEVAEH LA’NAE ANNE SHELTON, [DOB REDACTED], the above‐named defendant, indicated that she was in a fight with her mother. The call disconnected and there was no answer when dispatched tried to re‐connect. Officer Estby arrived on scene and met ELJ, [DOB REDACTED], at the door. ELJ was identified as the Defendant’s mother.
ELJ was visibly upset. The Defendant was no longer at the residence. ELJ reported that she had texted the Defendant earlier in the evening asking a question about a dog. ELJ said that, in response, the Defendant called her, was screaming at her, and using curse words. ELJ said that the Defendant arrived at the residence a short while later and the verbal argument continued. The verbal argument escalated when the Defendant ‘started throwing blows.” Witness 1 reported that the Defendant punched ELJ in the face.
ELJ said that all she could do was cover her head for protection. ELJ showed Officer Estby her injuries. She had bright red marks on her neck and upper back, scratches on her neck, missing finger nails, and her hair had fallen out of her pony tail. ELJ said that she didn’t know where the Defendant had gone when she left the residence. A review of the Defendant’s criminal history shows one prior qualified domestic violence‐related conviction on October 28, 2028, in Court File Number 71‐CR‐24‐533. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn.
Stat. 609.49, intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in additional criminal charges, and in addition to any arrest warrant that may otherwise be issued by the Court.
