On 12/19/2025 at approximately 1012 hours, officers responded to the Wings Financial Branch on the skyway level of the Rand Hotel Building at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Minneapolis, Hennepin County. Dispatch relayed that a man who had previously trespassed was on site and armed with a large machete knife, refusing to leave and being verbally aggressive towards staff. Upon arrival, Officers developed a plan and requested assistance from SWAT officers in the event that it becomes a barricaded suspect situation.
All staff was confirmed evacuated except one employee who was still in an unsecured office within the bank, but officers were able to communicate non-verbally to her through the glass wall to have her secure herself. Officers observed the suspect was seated behind a half-wall partition within the banks space with the large machete knife still in his possession. Once officers were in position, communication with the suspect began. Officers attempted multiple times and eventually convinced the suspect to put the weapon on the ground and step away from it.
One Officer took possession of the weapon while verbal commands successfully continued. Officers secured the suspect and walked him out of the business. Officers then spoke with staff/witnesses including the Regional Manager, Witness [NAME REDACTED], who explained that she had shown up around the same time as Officers, but was familiar with other particulars surrounding the business' ongoing issues with the suspect, Fedell Morris, [DOB REDACTED] (now referred to as "Defendant"). Additionally, the Branch Manager was present at the location during the incident and was also present at the previous Tuesday when the suspect had also caused a scene and was removed by police.
Together, both witnesses explained that Defendant had caused a scene in the Brooklyn Center branch of Wings Financial on or around November 15th of this year. Defendant had complaints then about discrepancies in his account balances. Defendant handled the communications in a such a hostile and aggressive manner that Wings Financial chose to permanently part ways with him professionally, closed his accounts and offered him his balances in the form of a cashier's check. Defendant only grew more hostile, rejected their attempts at mutual separation and had to be removed from the premises by Brooklyn Center police officers.
Branches including this Minneapolis skyway location were made aware of Defendant's concerning behavior along with the corporate position that he was unwelcome at their places of business. On 12/16/2025, Defendant showed up at this skyway location and again acted aggressive and argumentative. Defendant's behavior again rose to aggressive arguing, requiring another police call to have Defendant removed. On 12/19/2025, Defendant arrived and was immediately elevated in aggression. Defendant forcefully put on a pair of gloves and postured himself in fighting stances with his arms clenched/muscles flexed and fists closed.
