On December 30, 2025, at 9:34PM, Maple Grove Police Department officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle theft report at Central Park in the city of Maple Grove, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, AT [DOB REDACTED], who told them she arrived at work at Central Park at 1:40PM earlier that day and parked her white 2009 Toyota Camry (MN LTV540) in the parking lot. She said her younger siblings came to skate and she gave her keys to her brother, HT [DOB REDACTED], so he could get his skates from inside the Camry.
She said she never got the keys back, even though he said he returned them. She later discovered her car was missing and called police. Officers reviewed surveillance footage and determined the Camry was driven out of the parking lot at 7:21PM by a female suspect, described as a heavyset black female wearing glasses, teal jacket, necklace, white shirt, black pants, and a pink scarf. Surveillance footage showed HT left the car keys in the warming house at 1:42PM. The suspect entered the warming house at 5:36PM and rented skates.
The suspect put on skates near where HT left the keys to the Camry. The suspect is seen placing something in her right pocket. She returned her skates and walked to the parking lot where she drove away in the Camry at 7:21PM. On December 31, 2025, officers were notified by the University of Minnesota Police Department that the Camry was recovered with a female suspect, later identified as, TELAYZHA NA JAY BALLARD ([DOB REDACTED], “DEFENDANT” hereinafter). DEFENDANT was wearing the same teal jacket, white shirt, necklace, and glasses that were seen in the surveillance footage.
Further, an officer, who was at the skating rink on December 30, 2025, recognized the photograph of DEFENDANT as the same person the officer saw at the skating rink. DEFENDANT is in custody on other matters. As such, the State requests a warrant for her arrest.
