On December 17, 2025, approximately around 2:07 A.M., St. Anthony Police Department Officers were dispatched on report of a theft in progress at 2504 St. Anthony Boulevard in St. Anthony, Hennepin County. A known individual "Witness" herein, informed dispatch they observed a person wearing all dark clothing and a dark overcoat removing copper wire out of a light pole. Dispatch informed responding officers the suspect was travelling eastbound on St. Anthony Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers observed an individual matching the description provided by the Witness walking away from a light post.
Officers activated their emergency lights and approached the individual. Upon seeing the officers, the individual immediately began to flee on foot. Officers initiated a foot pursuit and identified themselves as police and commanded the individual to stop. The individual ignored the officer's commands and continued to run eastbound on the St. Anthony Boulevard sidewalk. Officers eventually placed the individual under arrest. Officers identified the individual as GAY GAY [DOB REDACTED] "Co - Defendant GAY" herein.
Officers conducted a search of Co-Defendant GAY. Officers located several tools, including a wire cutter, screwdriver, several small pry bars and a small socket wrench. Also inside of Co- Defendant GAY's pocket was a small strip of cut copper wire. Dispatch then advised officers the Witness reported another suspect wearing all dark clothing was hiding in a pine tree in front of the Witness's residence. Officers arrived at the Witness's residence and observed an individual matching the description provided by the Witness.
The suspect was partially concealed at the foot of a pine tree. Officers also observed red-colored wire need the suspect's feet. Officers identified the male suspect as PA DAH [DOB REDACTED] "Co-Defendant DAH" herein. Officers placed Co-Defendant DAH under arrest. Both Co-Defendant DAH and Co-Defendant GAY were transported to the St. Anthony Police Department. During a post-Miranda statement Co-Defendant GAY admitted to arriving to the light pole with Co- Defendant DAH. Co-Defendant GAY also admitted to opening the light poles and removing copper wire from the light post.
Both Co-Defendant DAH and Co-Defendant GAY were transported to the Hennepin County Jail. The value of the damage to the light pole exceeds $1,000.00. The value of the copper wire exceeds $1,000.00. At present, both Co-Defendant DAH and Co-Defendant GAY are in custody.
