On February 22, 2026, at 5:25pm, Deputy Gerads with the Wright County Sherriff’s Office observed a white Audi A4 bearing MN license plate #[PLATE REDACTED] traveling southbound on Walnut St from 3rd St W in Monticello, Wright County, Minnesota, with no front license plate. I conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at Walnut St and 6th St W in Monticello. Upon stop of the vehicle, Deputy Gerads observed that the window tint appeared to be darker than allowed. Deputy Sufka used a tint meter on the passenger side window measuring the window tint at 27% light transmittance.
During the check of the window tint, Deputies observed what appeared to be loose methamphetamine on the lap of the front seat passenger. The passenger identified as Luis Armando Nunez [DOB REDACTED] hereinafter defendant. Defendant was asked to exit the vehicle and the substance found on defendant’s lap field tested positive for methamphetamine, a schedule II-controlled substance. Defendant was searched and hypodermic needles were located on his person. A vehicle search was conducted, and a black backpack was found on the front passenger floorboard where defendant was seated.
Inside of the backpack Deputy Gerads located more hypodermic needles, a zip top bag with a white crystal substance that later field tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed approximately 0.46 grams, and metal knuckles. Defendant was found to have active county warrants and was placed under arrest.
