On January 3, 2026, officers with the Minneapolis Police Department responded to the report that someone was sleeping in a car parked at [ADDRESS REDACTED] S, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The call was placed at approximately 11:00 P.M. And reported that the individual had been in the parking lot since approximately 2:00 P.M., and the ignition was punched. When officers arrived on the scene, they saw a vehicle matching the called in vehicle description. The vehicle had no front license plate but did have a rear license plate covered by brown adhesive.
When the brown adhesive was removed officers identified the vehicle and learned it had been stolen from a residence in Minneapolis on December 12, 2025, without a key. Officers saw a man in the vehicle, who was later identified as JOSE LUIS LEDESMA MONCADA, [DOB REDACTED], “Defendant” herein. Officers also saw that the ignition cover was off and there were exposed wires, there was a key in the ignition, but it appeared to be a house key not a proper vehicle key. Defendant was arrested and refused to identify himself.
At the time of his arrest Defendant had an active conditional release violation warrant in ••-CR-••-•••• that had been issued on January 2, 2026, for failure to enter treatment in accordance with his conditional release order on December 31, 2025. Defendant remains in custody.
