On December 24, 2025, Minnesota State troopers attempted a traffic stop in the area of Eastbound I-94 and Southbound I-35W near Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The vehicle was a 1999 gold Lexus with MN license plate [PLATE REDACTED]. Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle with their emergency lights activated and the vehicle appeared to be evading police. Troopers got behind the vehicle Southbound on I-35W just prior to the Lake Street ramp. The vehicle continued to drive and eventually merged on the right and took the 35th exit from I-35W in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota.
Trooper’s lights and sirens were now activated. After taking the exit, the vehicle continued to drive and as the vehicle turned Westbound on 35th Street troopers attempted to box the vehicle in. The driver hit its brakes, then accelerated and clipped a squad car’s passenger side mirror. An assisting trooper accelerated and cut the vehicle off, boxing it in. The driver was identified as Aaron Anthony Ernst, born on [DOB REDACTED], herein DEFENDANT. Search incident to arrest, troopers located suspected methamphetamine weighing.18 grams and.15 grams.
