On March 28, 2026, at approximately 8:00 A.M., police responded to [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota, on a report of a burglary. Upon arrival, police met with SJD, who told police that she woke up to a male pacing on the first floor of her home. SJD said she walked out of her room and encountered the male at the top of the staircase. SJD told the male to get out of her house and asked why he was in her house. SJD said the male replied that her daughter told him to come to her house.
SJD told police that her daughter was at another house. SJD told the male to leave the way he came, and the male left through the back sliding door. SJD said she did not know the male. SJD told police that the male knocked down the baby fence that was blocking the kitchen and living room, and that she was scared because the male came into her home while she and her three children were sleeping. SJD reported that she closed all of the closets before going to bed, and that she discovered that the closet by the front door was open.
Police checked the area and located a male matching the suspect’s description in a bus shelter on the corner of Maryland Avenue and Clarence Street. The male, later identified as MAR REE KO – [DOB REDACTED], was informed that he matched the description of a male involved in a burglary. KO denied being near the residential complex behind the liquor store and denied going into the wrong townhome. Police sent a photograph of KO to SJD, and SJD identified KO as the male who was in her home. Police also discovered that KO had an active warrant for his arrest.
In a search incident to arrest, police located a “peppermint” container in KO’s front jacket pocket that contained suspected narcotics. KO was also in possession of several financial transaction cards in the names of other individuals. At the Ramsey County Jail, police began reading KO the Miranda advisory. Partway through, KO said he did not understand and became uncooperative. Police stopped the interview. Presumptive testing of the substance recovered from KO’s pocket yielded a positive result for methamphetamine with a net weight of 1.01 grams.
The following information is offered for purposes of Rule 6.02. KO has a pending charge of Second Degree Burglary – Dwelling in Ramsey County District Court File No. 62-CR-26-1018. KO was out of custody on a conditional release. At the time of his arrest, there was an active conditional release revocation warrant for KO’s arrest.
