On December 27, 2025 Minneapolis police were dispatched to the apartment building at 1615 S. 4th Street within the city of Minneapolis, Hennepin County on report of a robbery with a gun. Upon arrival officers spoke to an adult female Victim who stated upon entering the main lobby of the apartment building earlier in the day with her belongings, one of which was a speaker, she encountered an unknown male. Victim described the male's appearance, clothing and ethnicity. Male suspect was later identified and confirmed in a show-up to be KHALID SAID BARRE [DOB REDACTED], herein after "Defendant" Victim stated Defendant began talking to her in the lobby, but she was not interested and walked away.
As she walked away, Defendant took the speaker from her belongings and placed it into one of the pockets of the hoodie he was wearing. Victim attempted to retrieve the speaker and grabbed it from him. While both of them had hold of the speaker, Defendant removed a gray-colored handgun from another pocket and pointed it at her. Once she saw the gun, Victim released the speaker and entered the elevator. Defendant followed her into the elevator and asked if she was going to call the police. Defendant then took her cellphone and smashed it on the ground.
Victim [NAME REDACTED], which had a visibly cracked screen. Victim [NAME REDACTED] in the building again and called 911. Officers went to the last location Victim [NAME REDACTED]. While looking in a doorway to the stairwell, officers observed Defendant who fled from them down the stairs. Officers struggled with Defendant who refused to comply with commands and provide them his hand/arms. During the struggle officers felt a handgun on Defendant's person and were able to remove it and get it away from the struggle.
While trying to gain control of the Defendant, Defendant pushed one of the officers down the next flight of stairs and fell on his side also obtaining a cut to his hand. Victim completed a show-up identification of Defendant that he was the one who took her speaker, pointed the gun at her and threatened her. Defendant has the following prior felony convictions that prohibit him from the possession of firearms: 03/05/2021 Aggravated Robbery-1st Degree 3/05/2021 Receiving Stolen Property 03/08/2016 Theft-Take/Use/Transfer Movable Prop-No Consent 12/17/2015 Theft-Take/Use/Transfer Movable Prop-No Consent 02/09/2015 Burglary-1st Deg-Dwelling-Occupied-Non-Accomplice Present Defendant is in custody pending charges from this incident.
