On February 2, 2026, Deputy Corkins of the Carver County Sheriff's Office responded to a theft incident that occurred at a local bar in Norwood Young America, Carver County, Minnesota. Deputy Corkins spoke with owner of the establishment and learned that an employee had closed down the bar the night of January 29, 2026, and was tasked with putting money from the pull tabs in the safe. The owner confronted that employee who was identified as Lance Jacob Kurtz, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, who denied any wrong doing.
The owner then reviewed surveillance cameras and observed Defendant take the money out of the safe. The money that was taken was $2,275. On January 30th Defendant was contacted by the owner and told to bring back the money. Defendant agreed and returns to the bar with the money bag, however, only money that was remaining was $99. The owner explained that defendant had to count the money prior to placing the money in the safe and the pull- tab log shows the exact amount that was in the bag. The State gambling commission is aware of the theft.
The owner further explained that on Friday - January 30th Defendant was brought to detox for his drug use. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn. Stat. 609.49., intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in additional criminal charges, and in addition to any arrest warrant that may otherwise be issued by the Court.
