On or about April 5, 2026, at approximately 2:40 A.M., officers responded to a call of shots being fired outside of an apartment complex on the 6000 block of 37th Street West in St. Louis Park, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Multiple callers reported hearing shots being fired. One caller, M. T. (“Witness” herein) reported hearing five shots and seeing a male with his hand in the air standing near the underground garage of the building. Officers arrived on scene and went to the underground garage. Outside of the garage, officers recovered six 9 mm shell casings and one live round.
The garage door was partially open, but officers did not locate anyone inside or near the garage. Officers went inside the garage and observed many inoperable and dusty vehicles parked inside. One vehicle, a maroon GMC Yukon with Minnesota license plate SWH115, stuck out to officers because the vehicle was not inoperable and covered in dust like the other vehicles nearby. Officers ran routine checks on the Yukon and learned that the registered owner of the vehicle is T. N. S., who resides in apartment 2XX. Officers entered the apartment complex and went up to the second floor.
Officers heard an argument coming from inside apartment 2XX. Officers spoke with a female, identified as T. N. S., outside the apartment. T. N. S. Told officers that her boyfriend, TERRANCE LORENZO JOHNSON (“Defendant” herein) had come home intoxicated yelling about infidelity. Officers saw Defendant inside of the apartment. Officers observed Defendant wearing a black t-shirt, blue sweatpants, and light colored “Croc” style shoes. Officers spoke with Witness. Witness told officers that he could only make out the silhouette of a person standing near the parking garage when he heard the shots being fired.
Witness said this person appeared to be a male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches, with an average build. Witness said it appeared that the male was holding his hand in the air. Witness said he heard five “pops” that sounded like gunshots. Witness said these “pops” were separated by one to two seconds each. Officers reviewed surveillance videos from the apartment complex’s garage. The surveillance video showed a maroon GMC Yukon with Minnesota license plate SWH115 entering the parking garage. A black male wearing a Chicago White Sox hat, black sweatshirt with white logo on the back, blue sweatpants, large pendant necklace, and black shoes with white accents got out of the Yukon.
This male then went to the hood of the Yukon, opened it, reached in the engine compartment area, and took out a firearm. The male walked out of the parking garage and dropped the firearm on the ground. The male then picked up the firearm and walked eastbound on the driveway leading up to the parking garage. The male in the surveillance video appeared to be Defendant. Officers obtained a warrant to monitor the Yukon using GPS. On April 15, 2026, officers followed the Yukon to a business on West Broadway Street in Crystal.
