On November 4, 2025, officers located a stolen Ford F-250 MN LXJ797 that had previously been reported as stolen parked at Evergreen Drive and 23rd Avenue South, in the City of Minneapolis, County of Hennepin, State of Minnesota. Officers had observed the same vehicle being driven by a male at a high speed and passing vehicles on the wrong side of the road on November 3, 2025. The vehicle was occupied by a male driver and female passenger. Officers attempted to box in the Ford with three squad vehicles, two in front and one behind.
Officers directed the occupants to exit the vehicle. The Ford immediately began ramming all three vehicles and was able to smash out of containment and drove through the front yards of several residences, hitting several trees. Officers again attempted to box in the Ford after it hit the tree, but the Ford rammed through squad vehicles and continued driving. The Ford then hit an occupied, unmarked squad vehicle that was not involved in attempts to block the Ford. At this point, the Ford appeared to be on fire and continued to flee, driving into oncoming traffic at a high rate of speed.
The Ford did not stop until it was disabled due to damage, at which point the driver was placed under arrest. The driver was identified as Tyquis Jahaad Watkins [DOB REDACTED] and officers confirmed that he matched the appearance of the individual seen driving the vehicle on November 3, 2025. The unmarked squad vehicle was towed from the scene and the cost of repairing the vehicle is estimated to be well over $1,000. Repairs to the other three squad vehicles rammed by Watkins are also each estimated to exceed $1,000. Watkins is currently in custody and is currently on probation for a felony receiving stolen property conviction from July 7, 2025, in 27-CR-24-13668.
