On November 8, 2025, Deputy Redman of the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the city of Andover, Anoka County, Minnesota, for a report of damage to a mailbox. Deputy Redman arrived and inspected the mailbox, which was in fact damaged. The reporting party told Deputy Redman that she believed her neighbor, Benjamin Richard Peters, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, was the one who caused the damage and that she was terrified of Defendant and his increasingly escalating behavior and threats towards neighbors.
After leaving the reporting party’s residence, Deputy Redman heard angry yelling coming from Defendant’s home. Defendant then yelled at Deputy Redman, saying “I will f****** kill you, m***********.” Defendant eventually went into the residence’s garage while Deputy Redman remained on the road near the residence waiting for backup. Shortly after, Defendant came out of the front door and yelled “What’s up, Jeff? I’ll f****** kill you, you f****** whore.” Deputy Redman observed a silver handgun in Defendant’s hand.
Defendant pointed the gun directly at Deputy Redman. Defendant continued screaming “I will f****** kill you” while pacing in front of the garage. Deputy Redman took cover behind a tree and ordered Defendant to drop the gun. Defendant eventually went back into the house and came back out. After Defendant came back out, Defendant approached Deputy Redman’s position, holding a knife in his right hand, continuing to swear at Deputy Redman. Defendant eventually walked back into the house but eventually came back out and surrendered.
In a search of the residence pursuant to a search warrant, deputies located a knife on the table consistent with the knife observed by Deputy Redman. Deputies also located a gray revolver with a black handle in a basket in the living room area of the home. A DNA analysis of the gun and knife are pending. Defendant has a prior felony conviction for Violation of a No Contac Order, court file 02-CR-12-7527, making him ineligible to possess a firearm. Defendant also has a pending case for being an ineligible person in possession of a firearm, court file 02-CR-25-5158.
