On April 13, 2026, officers with the Brooklyn Park Police Department responded to an address located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] North in Brooklyn Park, Hennepin County, Minnesota, on report of a trailer theft in progress. Specifically, officers learned from a witness (“the Witness”) that a vehicle with no license plates was stealing a neighbor’s trailer. The vehicle was very quickly backing up to the neighbor's trailer. The vehicle then sped away but the trailer fell off. The driver of the vehicle then exited the vehicle and reattached the trailer before speeding off again.
Officers located the vehicle, and trailer, in Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Meanwhile, officers spoke to the neighbor (“Victim”). Victim was surprised that her trailer had been removed from her driveway. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had permission to take the trailer. Victim reported that the value of her trailer is $2000.00. Once officers located the vehicle, and trailer, a traffic stop was conducted. Officers identified the suspect as Clifford Kirk Johnson [DOB REDACTED] (“Defendant”). Defendant told officers that he stole the trailer because he had to move and that he was going to return the trailer.
Defendant was arrested and brought to the Brooklyn Park Police Department. Defendant was provided his Miranda warning and agreed to speak with officers. Defendant stated that he made a mistake and took the trailer because he needed to move some items. Defendant further stated that he was going to return the trailer when he was done. Defendant is presently in-custody based on this offense. Bail is requested to ensure public safety.
