On January 9, 2026, at approximately 1:28am, law enforcement from the Moorhead Police Department was dispatched to a report of an impaired person at the Moorhead Public Safety and Security located on 9th Avenue South in Moorhead. The Complainant indicated that a female was at the main entrance holding a bottle of alcohol and moaning in pain. Upon arrival, Officer Bolgrean made contact with Daisy Mae Butcher [DOB REDACTED] ("Defendant") who was standing with an open bottle of alcohol. Officer Bolgrean indicated that the Defendant appeared to be intoxicated and when asked if she drank too much, the Defendant nodded her head yes.
The Defendant was holding a bottle vodka that appeared to have a lot of the alcohol already gone from the bottle. When asked how much of the vodka she had drank, the Defendant responded that she drank the whole thing. Officer Bolgrean called for an ambulance. While awaiting an ambulance Officer Bolgrean inquired with the Defendant if she took anything besides the alcohol and the Defendant indicated she had taken too many of her clonidine pills. At that time the Defendant stated, "I think I killed my sister," and then repeated that statement.
When asked where she had been at, the Defendant provided an address on 18th Street in Moorhead, Clay County. When asked what she did that made her think she killed someone, the Defendant replied that she stabbed her on her side. Officer Bolgrean observed what appeared to be blood smeared on the Defendant' shoes. The Defendant was subsequently taken to Sanford Hospital via ambulance. Law enforcement then made contact with the address indicated by the Defendant and located V. B. ("Victim") lying down on the ground outside of the apartment building.
The Victim appeared to be unconscious and unresponsive. Officer Moore noted small amounts of blood on the Victim's stomach. Officer Moore provided sternum rubs for which the Victim [NAME REDACTED]. When Sanford Ambulance arrived, they began cutting off the victim's sweatshirt. At that time, Officer Anderson observed the Victim's sweatshirt appear to be soaked in blood, with much of it being on the Victim's left side. A laceration, approximately one inch wide, underneath the Victim's left armpit on her torso was found.
The fabric on the Victim's sweatshirt around the area of the laceration was saturated in what appeared to be blood and small clots of blood were found towards the bottom hem of the sweatshirt, below where the cut was found. Additionally, the Victim's bra was soaked in blood. Law enforcement made contact with the apartment indicated by the Defendant and encountered B. C. Law enforcement read B. C. His Miranda warning for which he indicated he understood and was willing to answer questions. B. C. Indicated that the Defendant had been causing issues inside the apartment.
