On April 15, 2026, Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Deputies were conducting a narcotics and weapons investigation into BERNARD MILES JR [DOB REDACTED] "Defendant" herein. Deputies had received a signed search warrant for the Defendant, his vehicles and his residence at the 2500 Block of Harriet Avenue in Minneapolis, Hennepin County. Earlier that day, Deputies attended a briefing about the Defendant. Deputies also received photographs and a detailed physical description of the Defendant. Approximately around 10:05 A.M., deputies arrived at Defendant's Harriet Avenue residence.
Deputies observed an individual matching the physical description and photographs of the Defendant. Deputies observed the Defendant enter the driver's seat of a Honda Accord bearing MN plates TFN001. Deputies followed the Defendant. Based on the Defendant's prior history of fleeing police, deputies formulated a plan to box-in the Defendant's vehicle. Deputies initiated a traffic stop of the Defendant's vehicle at Oak Grove Street in Minneapolis, Hennepin County. As deputies activated their emergency squad lights and approached the Defendant, the Defendant placed the Honda Accord in reverse and accelerated in an attempt to flee deputies.
Deputies conducted a PIT maneuver to prevent Defendant from fleeing in the Honda Accord. Deputies then approached the Defendant. Deputies observed the Defendant was the sole occupant of the Honda Accord. Deputies removed the Defendant from the Honda Accord. Deputies placed the Defendant under arrest and searched the Defendant. Inside of Defendant's front right pant pocket deputies located a clear baggie containing suspected narcotics. The contents of the clear baggie later field-tested positive for 12.24 grams of methamphetamine.
Inside of Defendant's front left pocket deputies located another clear baggie containing suspected narcotics. The contents of the clear baggie later field- tested positive for 12.70 grams of cocaine. Officers transported the Defendant to a deputy's squad car. Deputies then conducted a search of the Honda Accord. Inside the driver's door map pocket deputies located a third clear baggie containing suspect narcotics. The contents of the clear baggie later field-tested positive for 7.48 grams of cocaine.
Defendant was then transported to the Hennepin County Jail. Deputies executed the search warrant for the Defendant's residence. During a search of the Defendant's residence, deputies located a clear plastic baggie containing suspected narcotics on the kitchen counter. The contents of the plastic baggie later field-tested positive for 3.85 grams of cocaine. During a search of the Defendant's residence, officers located a key to a Maroon Chevrolet Van. Deputies executed the search warrant for the Maroon Chevrolet Van bearing MN license plates TEH694 parked outside of the Defendant's residence.
