Based on reports from an incident occurring on or about November 6, 2025, your Complainant offers the following to establish probable cause: At approximately 1:54 A.M. On November 6, 2025, Oakdale Police Officers observed a blue Chevrolet R- 10 (Minnesota license plate # [PLATE REDACTED]) the Marathon gas station parking lot located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] North in Oakdale, MN. The vehicle reverse from the pump it was at as officers positioned their squad car toward the it. The driver looked in the direction of the officers and appeared to try and park near another gas pump.
The vehicle then proceed to circle around the pump island very slowly. Officer left the lot and parked across the street. The driver then left the parking lot and began traveling northbound on Geneva Avenue North. Officers followed the vehicle and observed that it drove over the center line and then make a sudden right run with an improper turn signal prior to 100 feet. Officers initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, who was identified as ALEXANDER DOUGLAS SCHWANZ [DOB REDACTED]. SCHWANZ had bloodshot and glossy eyes.
SCHWANZ told officers that he was lost, but later claimed he was going to work at a Denny's restaurant located near the area of the stop. Offices reported that SCHWANZ was slurring his speech. Officers had SCHWANZ perform Field Sobriety Tests, which showed clues of impairment. SCHWANZ had nystagmus a maximum deviation in both eyes. During the Walk and Turn test, SCHWANZ stepped offline, did not touch his heel to tow, stopped walking, used his arms for balance, and made an improper turn. During the One Leg Stand test, SCHWANZ swayed, used his arms to balance, and put his foot on the ground.
SCHWANZ's PBT yielded a result of.282. SCHWANZ was arrested and transported to jail. At the jail, SCHWANZ was read the Breath Test Advisory and contacted an attorney. SCHWANZ refused to take a breath test. SHWANZ's criminal history shows that he was convicted of felony DWI on December 11, 2023 (Hennepin County Court File No.: 27-*CR-23-6548). Additionally, SCHWANZ has the following impaired driving convictions: Gross Misdemeanor DWI (Hennepin County Court File No.: ••-CR-••-••••); Gross Misdemeanor Criminal Vehicular Operation (Ramsey County Court File No.: ••-CR-••-••••), and his drivers liscense was revoked as a result of a driving while impaired implied consent test over.08. SCHWANZ is currently in custody.
