On May 4, 2026, Minneapolis police were alerted to an assault at a bus stop on Lake Street and Chicago Avenue within the city of Minneapolis, Hennepin County. Initial information was received that a male Victim was beat up and kicked in the head. Upon arrival officers located the Victim on his hands and knees, his face was bleeding, and he very obviously had a broken leg at the ankle. Witness 1 stated a black male with a black face mask beat Victim [NAME REDACTED] on Chicago. Suspect, later identified as CAMPBELL, BRIAN KEITH [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter "Defendant" knocked Victim out on the ground while his head was being stomped on multiple times.
Witness 1 also stated other males took Victim's personal property after he was beat and left. Minneapolis Fire was on scene and was placing Victim's leg in a splint. Victim did not know what happened, showing signs of a possible brain injury - repeatedly asking what happened and at one point asked if officers were okay. Victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for further medical aid. A medical update later provided law enforcement that Victim had a tibia and fibula fracture and possibly a broken hand as well.
Investigators received surveillance video that showed the following from the incident: An initial argument between Victim. Victim walks away for several minutes. Defendant walks up to Victim, and they appear to exchange words. Defendant pushed Victim and Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Then Defendant hits Victim in the face with a closed fist. Victim [NAME REDACTED], but misses. Defendant then strikes Victim, and Victim falls to the ground appearing to break his leg. Once Victim [NAME REDACTED], Defendant and an unidentified male start stomping and kicking Victim [NAME REDACTED] on the ground.
Other identified participants 1 and 2, appear in the picture and appear to stop the assault. Both are then seen taking things from Victim's pockets and taking his things that fell around on the ground. One also then comes back and takes Victim's crossbody bag off of him and walks away. Defendant is located a short distance away with a black face covering similar to what is seen in the video. Defendant is currently in custody pending charges from this incident.
